bullet Fronica LANDIS was born before 1709 in Alsace, Germany (now France). (5634) She immigrated in 1717 to West Lampeter Twp., Lancaster Co., Pa.. Parents: Felix LANDIS and Rosina ----.

She was married to Abraham MIERS .(5635)

bullet Hannah LANDIS was born on 13 Jan 1836 in Pennsylvania. (5636) She resided Kansas in 1879 in Kansas. (5637) Still living in Kansas in 1897. She died in Dec 1918. (5638)

She was married to Henry LAUVER.(5639) (5640)

bullet Henry LANDIS was born on 10 Mar 1736 in West Lampeter Twp., Lancaster Co., Pa.. (5641) He died on 30 Apr 1785. (5642) Parents: Felix LANDIS Jr. and Catherine LOBAN.

He was married to Anna POORMAN .(5643)

bullet Henry LANDIS was born about 1700 in Switzerland or Southern Germany. (5644) He owned Patent of 184 1/2 - acre farm on 24 Jul 1741 in Warwick Twp., Lancaster Co., Pa..(5645) along Hammer Creek, west side of Erb's Bridge Rd., just west of the Cocalico Creek
midway between Ephrata and Lititz, about five and half miles northwest of the John Landis homestead where Henry may have grown up.

The farm house, which is no longer standing, was located on the south side of the Hammer Creek, about 100 yards southwest of the covered bridge on Erb's Bridge Rd.. The property was sold to his son-in-law, John Schrantz, following the death of his wife Veronica.
He owned deed D-75, 216 acres purchased from Benjamin and Anna Landis on 20 Dec 1753 in Manheim Twp., Lancaster Co., Pa.. (5646) recorded in Lancaster Co. 12 Jan. 1754.
The house was built in 1728 and was a restaurant for a number of years known as the
1728 Landis House Restaurant, Inc. It has been remodeled for use as commercial offices. The barn has been renovated as a County court office for Lancaster Co. The house was later sold back to a descendant of Benjamin Landis and has been in the hands of the family since then.
Reputed to be the second oldest in Lancaster Co., second only to the Hans Herr House.
Farm is located at 2201 Oregon Pike, 3/4 mile northeast of Rosehill.
He was buried between Oct 1760 and Nov 1760 in Roseville Cemetery or on his Manheim Twp. farm.(5647) He signed a will on 26 Oct 1760 in Lancaster Co., Pa.. Codicil of will added to include land to be deeded to second wife, Mary--198 acres on the Chiecus Creek in Donegal Twp., Lancaster Co., Pa.

The will also gave to his son, Henry, "my bigg bible and testament, one heim [hymn] book and salm [psalm] book."
He had an estate probated on 3 Jul 1772 in Lancaster Co., Pa.. A codicil to his will was added 26 Oct 1760 and he died between that date and 26 Nov 1760. The explanation for a 12 year gap until probate raises another question. Could he have survived until 1772? He owned Deed X-I-164-171, Lancaster Co. Court House, Jacob Alter to Peter Hull on 25 Sep 1783 in Warwick Twp., Lancaster Co., Pa..(5648) (5649) As per direction of the will of Henry Landis, the remainder of the farm of Henry and his first wife, Veronica, not previously sold to his son-in-law, John Schrantz, was to be equally divided among his eleven children. Each child of Henry had to sign away their share when this land was transferred to Peter Hull. This helped establish who the children of Henry Landis were.

Once this deed is reviewed and information confirmed, this source should be upgraded to primary. He died bet 26 Oct 1760 and 26 Nov 1760 (? in Manheim Twp., Lancaster Co., Pa..(5650) His will supposedly was probated 3 July 1772. Could it be possible that he lived until 1772? Otherwise, why the gap of 12 years between his stated death of 1760 and probate?
He resided Hammer Creek, west side of Erb's Bridge Rd., just west of the Cocalico Creek until 20 Dec 1753 in Warwick Twp., Lancaster Co., Pa.. He was Mennonite in Lancaster Co., Pa..(5651) He was a Mennonite minister (unconfirmed) in Lancaster Co., Pa.. (5652) John Slabaugh refers to the will of Samuel Bear dated 26 May 1743, "to the poor the Sum of ten pounds to be Comitted to the Care of Henry Landes for hi to Dispose of at his Discretion." Source of this information should be on file at the Lancaster Mennonite Historical Center Library. Parents: John LANDIS.

He was married to Veronica GROFF abt 1728 or 1729 in Lancaster Co., Pa.. (5653) Could be speculative on the part of John Slabaugh.

They were married about 25 years before she died. Children were: Mary LANDIS, Frena LANDIS, Anna LANDIS, Christina LANDIS, Barbara LANDIS, Susanna LANDIS, Elizabeth LANDIS, Magdalena LANDIS, Margaret LANDIS, Catherine LANDIS, Henry LANDIS.

He was married to Mary ---- about 1754 in Lancaster Co., Pa..(5654) Husband Henry's first wife signed her last deed, G-327, 4 Nov 1747, and is believed to have died 1752 or 1753. Mary first signed a deed with Henry 1 March 1754.

bullet Henry LANDIS was born on 4 Apr 1751 in Warwick Twp., Lancaster Co., Pa.. (5655)(5591) (5656) He died on 4 Jan 1791 in Manheim Twp., Lancaster Co., Pa.. (5657)(5658) If his mother was Veronica, she would have been 46 when Henry was born. This is not impossible, but it raises some doubts. Further scrutinization of birth dates of the mother and son are advised, or even the possibiliy that Henry had a different mother. Parents: Henry LANDIS and Veronica GROFF.

He was married to Mary ERB on 16 Mar 1771.(5659) Children were: John Erb LANDIS.

bullet infant LANDIS was born on 21 Oct 1728 in West Lampeter Twp., Lancaster Co., Pa.. (5660) Date of death not stated by John Slabaugh, but being unnamed as "infant" suggests the child died at birth or shortly thereafter on 21 Oct 1728.

bullet John LANDIS(5671) was born in 1664. (5672) He was buried in Dec 1727 in Grebill Cemetery, Earl Twp., Lancaster Co., Pa..(5673) His grave marker is reputed to be the oldest Landis tombstone in Lancaster Co.

The Grebill Cemetery is in a grove of trees about twenty yards east of Maple Ave. and 100 yards north of Peace Ave on land that was patented to his son, John Landis (Jr.).

Today West Earl Twp. He died on 2 Dec 1727 in Earl Twp., Lancaster Co., Pa.. (5674) He resided until 2 Dec 1727 in Earl Twp., Lancaster Co., Pa..(5675) About two miles southwest of father-in-law Hans Graf. Could be purely speculative on the part of John Slabaugh. There is no evidence to confirm that Henry was the son of the Landis with the oldest known Landis tombstone in Lancaster County.

The one notable piece of evidence is that the land of John Landis was about two miles southwest to the land of Hans Graf, the father of Veronica. Veronica became Henry's wife.

He was married.(5676) Children were: John LANDIS, Henry LANDIS .

bullet John LANDIS(5677) was born about 1695 in Switzerland or Southern Germany.(5678) He died on 27 Nov 1771.(5679) He resided 1735 to 1771 in Earl Twp., Lancaster Co., Pa.. bullet (?) Hans LAUBER resided four miles south of Sissach, Switzerland in 1580 in Rumlingen Parish, Switzerland.(5711) He was born in Boeckten, Sissach Parish, Basel, Switzerland. (5712) The father of Heinrich Lauber cannot be confirmed. Researcher John Slabaugh found five Lauber families in the Sissach area:

1. Hans Lauber (the Elder) and Verena Grindin
2. Heini Lauber md (1) to Verena and (2) to Margaret Meyer
3. Hans Lauber (the Younger) md to Anna
4. Fridlin Lauber md to Catharina Gas
5. Hans Lauber md to Elizabeth Grunblatt

Of these, Slabaugh believes that 1. and 2. are too old to be the parents of Heinrich. The next two, 3. and 4., Slabaugh found no surviving children named Heinrich or Heini. The last couple seems to be the most promising, but Lampenberg, the village listed as Heinrich's home at the time of his marriage, lacks records for this time period.

bullet Hans (the Elder) LAUBER(5773) resided Rorhenfluh, five miles east of Sissach in Rothenfluh Parish, Switzerland. (5774) The connection this Hans is unknown. He is known to have lived in the Sissach region of Switzerland around the time of the birth of ancestor Heinrich. One speculative investigation would attempt to learn if this Hans is perhaps the grandfather or great-grandfather of Heinrich.
