(1178) ![]() In 1807 there is tax record for Germantown that shows an Isaac Benner as a laborer and owing 75 cents in tax. It is not clear if this is Isaac Benner Jr., this individual, or his uncle., son of Sebastian Benner. He was a Toll gate collector ? 1816 to 1821 in First Toll Gate, Germantown Rd., Germantown, Philadelphia Co., Pa..(1181) Hannah Benner Roach cites the Philadelphia Directories in the Reading Room of the Historical Society of Pennsylvania as the source. The directory listing does not prove conclusively that this was his occupation. He also had an occupation as a weaver. At that time "Jr." meant "the younger" and probably was so named in consideration of his uncle who was the son of Sebastian.. Researcher Hannah Benner Roach found no records of Isaac after 1821. The conclusion could be that he relocated with his family, or he died. The suggestion is to search for Isaac and Sarah Benner in other counties or states. Parents: Christian BENNER. However, yet unconfirmed, this researcher has seen on reference to a tax list for Buck's county which shows a taxation for a Johannes Benner in 1734. The link to Johannes Benner is primarily through Source #126, "Detective Work Among The Benners," with the solid link of evidence of the death certificate of Solomon Benner. According the source's author, Johannes Benner was on the ship "Lydia" and arrived in Philadelphia on 19 Sept 1743 and was listed as being 18 years old.
