bullet Isaac BENNER Jr. was born between 1785 and 1790 in Pennsylvania. (1179) Benner places conclusion on Census of 1800 and notes the Census of 1810 lists the age as between 16 and 25. He was a Weaver about 1808 in Germantown, Philadelphia Co., Pa..(1180) based on tax returns researched by Hannah Benner Roach.

In 1807 there is tax record for Germantown that shows an Isaac Benner as a laborer and owing 75 cents in tax. It is not clear if this is Isaac Benner Jr., this individual, or his uncle., son of Sebastian Benner. He was a Toll gate collector ? 1816 to 1821 in First Toll Gate, Germantown Rd., Germantown, Philadelphia Co., Pa..(1181) Hannah Benner Roach cites the Philadelphia Directories in the Reading Room of the Historical Society of Pennsylvania as the source.

The directory listing does not prove conclusively that this was his occupation. He also had an occupation as a weaver. At that time "Jr." meant "the younger" and probably was so named in consideration of his uncle who was the son of Sebastian..

Researcher Hannah Benner Roach found no records of Isaac after 1821. The conclusion could be that he relocated with his family, or he died. The suggestion is to search for Isaac and Sarah Benner in other counties or states. Parents: Christian BENNER.

(5-25-1997) He was a Wheelwright in Pennsylvania.(1367) If he were a wheelwright during the Civil War, his services were probably very
much in demand. According to History of Huntingdon and Blair Counties Pennsylvania, p. 158
(book). by J. Simpson Africa, published by Louis H. Everts, Philadelphia, 1883,
there is an S. A. BENNER, who in 1877, served as a "High Priest" in the Masons,
Mountain Chapter, No. 189, R.A.M. The reference is not yet confirmed as of October, 1996, as being connected to Solomon Benner, but the likelihood is strong. When
the research is confirmed, this reference should be moved to the Source file.

once. More sources must be found to confirm the true maiden name. Children were: Mary A. BENNER.
